Wayne Long is a
self-admitted former “complacent conservative” who has had enough, is
“ticked off” and now “wants to change things”. Wayne, like many
conservative Americans, have watched in horror as our country has been
taken hard to the left by the Obama administration and the Nancy
Pelosi/Democrat controlled Congress.
Wayne Long decided to do
something about it, so he formed the National Conservative Republican
Alliance (NCRA). The NCRA describes itself as “a grassroots
organization made up of like-minded people, who share a set of core
beliefs and agree to support a shared set of Top Ten policy positions
at the national level.”
One of the distinctive characteristics
of the NCRA is its “Top Ten” policy positions. The Top Ten are
determined by the membership of the NCRA and are currently as follows:
Border Security.
The NCRA supports a zero tolerance policy for illegal border crossing,
and believes that border security is a national defense issue rather
than an immigration issue.
War On Terror. The NCRA supports a consistent, proactive, aggressive assault on global terrorism.
Reduce Spending. The NCRA supports the restoration of fiscal responsibility to federal spending and the total elimination of “ear marks”.
Strong Military. The NCRA believes in increasing the size and effectiveness of the military.
Reduce Taxes. The NCRA supports lowered, eliminated, and reduced taxes.
Socialized Medicine. The NCRA opposes all attempts to socialize the U.S. healthcare system.
Balanced Budget. The NCRA supports a balanced federal budget.
Government Bailouts. The NCRA is opposed to bailing out failed businesses.
Illegal Immigration.
The NCRA supports ending all entitlements to illegal immigrants,
enforcing current laws, and prosecuting employers who knowingly hire
illegal immigrants.
Abortion. The NCRA believes that life begins at conception and is strongly opposed to abortion.
All
of the above seems to fit right along with most conservative thought in
the U.S., but where the NCRA differs a little is that while the word
“Republican” is in their name, Wayne Long vows to fight against
candidates who are so called “RINOS”: Republicans In Name Only.
Wayne
Long, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Clint Eastwood, said, “I have
a beef with that part of the Republican party, both local and national,
that thinks the status quo is working. “ Mr. Long adds, “Conservatives
have to regain control of the Republican party.”
Mr. Long also
believes that the way things are done now is backward, “Politicians set
their agenda and ask for support from us, the people. The people should
set the agenda and seek candidates that will support it.”
The NCRA has a game plan for setting change into motion, and getting conservatives elected.
“I
got the idea for this (the NCRA) in 2008 when I showed up at a
Republican precinct meeting following the primary vote. I realized how
few people set the platform for the party,” Mr. Long said.
The
plan that the NCRA is putting into motion is to recruit like-minded
conservatives and place them in “Precinct Chapters all across the
country. We will meet at the precinct level and get acquainted. We will
develop an organized plan to vote in our primary elections and attend
our precinct conventions as a unified group.”
"I would like to
invite like-minded individuals and groups to think of the NCRA as a
platform that we can all stand together on. The key is stacking the
precinct conventions with conservatives who vote as a block. The NCRA
'Precinct Chapter' organization is where the NCRA takes the additonal
step that other groups do not."
Mr. Long asks, "Do you see my
point? There has to be one place where we can all come together at one
time, in our individual states on primary/precinct convention day."
Mr. Long stresses, and includes the following in his brochures and pamphlets for the NCRA:
“We
will oppose Republican politicians and Republican candidates who ignore
the voices of the people who elect them. We will no longer vote for the
lesser of two evils.”
Mr. Long is passionate about his cause and also knows he has a long tough road ahead.
“I’m
doing this to make myself feel better. I had to ask myself, ‘What if
this is a flop?’ I’m making the investment and expressing myself. I’m
doing it. I was so frustrated, so ticked off, that I decided to do it
anyway. I have to make a difference in the Republican party.”
In so doing Wayne Long and the National Conservative Republican Alliance could make a difference in the world.
